Historical Spending Information
As part of the Government Funding for PE in Schools Whittingham C of E First ( now Primary)School used their funding during the School Year 2015 - 16 as follows:
- Professional Coaching in Basketball, Football, Rugby and Cricket. This enables children to have first class provision up-skilling teachers so that in the future they can continue to deliver lessons of high quality.
- Swimming lessons for all children from Year 1 to Year 4.
- After school sports clubs, so far we have subsidised clubs in Football and Basketball.
- Transport to inter sporting competitions is paid for using this money.
- We are committed to provision of high quality PE and have had our Sainsbury's School Games Silver Award re- accredited.
As part of every Headteacher's Report to Governors we provide the Governing Body with a more detailed explanation and costs incurred delivering Primary Sports.
This information may be rather sensitive as it is broken down into great detail. However, if you wish to discuss our commitment to sport further our PE co-ordinator was Mrs Fortescue at this time, a role taken over by Headteacher, Belinda Athey.
Primary Sports Funding for School Year 2016- 17.
We received £8200. As a Primary School this year we intend to spend the money as follows. We are committed to the health and well-being of our pupils and commit additional money from our School Budget and is noted on our School Development Plan paper for PE.
In recognition of our move to Primary in September 2016 we employed a specialist PE teacher. for two terms from September 2016 to help upskill our staff and provide training.
KS2 specialist teacher- £3,800
The costs for this were - KS2 specialist teacher- £3,800
EYFS / KS1 specialist teacher -£3,800
Cost of swimming lessons and specialist sports facility hire - £4,104
Sports coaches- £1,000
Transport to sporting festivals- £1000.
Impact statement -
Our Primary School provides outstanding sporting provision in a range of aspects of P.E so that every child is encouraged to enjoy an active lifestyle. We remain committed to providing a P.E.provision that is second to none.
Primary Sports Funding 2017-2018.
We are pleased to see that in July the DFE announced that this has been doubled.
For the school year 2017-18 we aim to spend the money as follows-
Transport to sporting festivals- £1000.
Sports coaches £1000.
Cost of swimming lessons and specialist sports facility hire £2300.
Employment and training of highly skilled HLTA to deliver some PE across the whole school - £5000.
Purchase of new resources and to develop storage area £2000.
Costs towards enhancing the MUGA specifications with the view to creating a long jump pit. - £7000.
Following our commitment to swimming provision we are pleased to announce that 88% of our pupils greatly exceeded the end of KS 2 requirement to swim 25 metres in 2018 and we expect this to rise to beyond 90% in 2019.
Standards in Swimming
We offer swimming to our KS 2 pupils in the Summer Term.
Summer Term 2022.
2 children were disapplied from swimming and therefore are not included in these figures.
91% were able to swim at least the 25m required at the end of KS2.
91% were able to use a range of strokes effectively.
91% were able to perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
Historical Information.
Despite the COVID 19 epidemic during the school year 2019-20 our commitment to swimming across KS 2 meant that the percentage of pupils within their year 6 cohort 2020 can do each of the following:

swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres - 92%

use a range of strokes effectively - 92%

perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations - 76%
During the school year 2020-21 unfortunately due to the ongoing pandemic swimming lessons did not resume. Based on assessment data of the Year 6 pupils at the end of Year 5 2020 the standards are as follows:
